Berenice Abbott

Berenice Abbott- known as "a master image maker for over 60 years." Photographs from portraits to cityscapes to the world or science. Her first photographs date from 1925 and were taken at Man Ray's Paris studio. She undertook to prove that photography was the medium uniquely qualified to unite art with science. She labored alone for nearly twenty years with little or no encouragement until finally, in 1958, her work was recognized by the Physical Science Study Committee and she was hired to work with that group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for three years.

Ive noticed that some of the tool are different, the right side bar is different, and it seems to be more complicated than photoshop.

Fashion Photography Tips

1. Fashion photography should convey an essence of authority, so your direction of the model(s) needs to be confident and self-assured.

2. Fashion photography is all about clothes and beauty, so pull all the elements of the scene and the model together to reflect this
3.Using ‘broken down’ poses or poses that require angular body shapes can add interest and edginess to the piece – as well as help to elongate body length.
4. If you are shooting in a studio environment remember to meter all areas of the scene to avoid unwanted shadows and the use of a separate light meter rather than the one in your camera, will offer a more accurate reading.
5. Clear a space in a room that benefits from large windows and peg a white sheet, net or fabric across the window. On a bright sunny day you’ll have yourself a homemade soft box – ideal for flattering even light.
6.
When shooting in low light or into the sun, you may require an extra light source. If all you have is flash then rather than shoot straight on, set it to bounce of a nearby reflector, wall or ceiling
7.
Props are fantastic for telling a narrative within a fashion shot, but one of the best props to use is a mirror. A mirror can be a used to tell a story and act as an effective tool that allows the photographer to display the front and back of your model
8.
Location, location, location! Getting the right location is important if you want to convey a narrative within your shot
9.
Influence the image by moving around the scene and exploring which angles work best to full expose the garment.
10.
Often photographers need an extra pair of hands to position reflectors, angle and reset lighting equipment, tweak the positioning of garments and clear the scene

Fashion Photography

Victor Demarchelier

Like his father, Patrick Demarchelier, Victor Demarchelier took up photography, and it seems he inherited the fashion photography genes. His work uses simple concepts to make big statements. He shoots for a variety of major magazines and has established himself as separate from, albeit still a descendant of, one of the greatest fashion photographers to ever live.

Ben Hassett

Ben Hassett shoots for Vogue, Numéro, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and more, often abstracting elements of his images like hair, shadows, and poses. His work contains the boldness necessary for fashion photography but also the uniqueness and depth desired in fine art. He's done iconic ad campaigns for Calvin Klein Cosmetics, Bulgari, YSL Beauté, Lanvin, Burberry, L’Oreal, and Christian Dior Beauté.

Ellen von Unwerth

Ellen von Unwerth's style is erotic and feminine, with an understanding of beauty that's all her own. Interestingly enough, she was a model for ten years before pursuing a career as a photographer. The fashion world took notice of her skill after she shot Claudia Schiffer, and since, she's shot for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview, Arena, L'Uomo Vogue, and more, in addition to publishing books and winning countless awards. She's also known for shooting the early GUESS Jeans campaigns, which she shot again for the company's 30th anniversary.

Kevin Carter and photojournalism

Kevin Carter has witnessed and taken photographs of many hardships. His photographs show real life, and how bad it is. His photos are very depressing and very moving. His photos are very disturbing. They are also very controversial.

Photojournalism must be a very hard job, with trying to take a picture without falling apart. Photojournalists take pictures of good and back things but thats what photojournalism is. It is taking pictures of what is going on the world around us.

Sports

-My top three favorite sports are volleyball, field hockey, and baseball.
-Photographers use a fast shutter speed, a prediction of what will happen, and a good eye to capture action, motion, and movement.
-I think Christina Saenz did one of the best presentations. She had a lot of information. She also incouperated many pictures. I like how she focused just on track. She also included what the different parts of track included.
